I’m Gordon — Maltese Travel Vlogger & Content Creator
Bringing You Local Cultures Worldwide

Exploring hidden gems across the globe and sharing authentic stories

In June of 2019, I embarked on my content creation journey—not just to document the places I visit, but to capture the essence of each destination, the untold stories hidden within every street, and the unforgettable souls I meet along the way.

At the time of writing this, I have traveled to 23+ countries and counting with my favorite places being: Spain, Scotland, United States, Latvia and Tunisia.

Although I would consider those my favorite places, I have loved every country I have visited for its own unique reasons. I believe one day I would like to achieve the goal of visiting every country in the world, but I am in no rush to do this, as travel should be about the quality of the experience vs. the quantity of places you have been.

My passion for travel was partially inspired by my late father, Reno, who has been to many countries and who has been my biggest supporter in chasing my dreams.

How I started

In 1993, I took my first ever flight and I can still remember myself sitting in the window seat looking outside, all excited into the unknown towards an undiscovered territory. That moment I put on the safety belt (with a little bit of help lol), that unlocked my love and passion for traveling (Yep, I got the travel bug :D).

In 2001, I worked abroad in Perthshire, Scotland as an apprentice chef, which continued to enhance my passion for traveling after getting a small taste of what this world has to offer by living alone away from my family and meeting people from all walks of life, exploring new cultures and absorbing new experiences. It was another world than now, as back then, there was no social media, all I had (and still have) was my Canon IXUS 2 compact photo camera, where I documented everything possible.

As video cameras got better and smaller, I ultimately found myself wishing I had more memories than just photos (back then, developed photos).

I quickly realized how much fun it would be to make some travel montages of my holidays to remember some of the experiences more clearly.

The Journey

As life went on and I returned from Scotland, I continued making videos which I shared with family and friends at that time.

In October 2019 after working in the catering world, I went on a trip to Latvia and I created a couple of YouTube videos (vlogs style). It was this moment that I realized how much I enjoyed making travel videos. When I got back to Malta, I focused on creating raw authentic content about Malta and the locals… but that’s not it!

I want to create worldwide content because, as my tagline says

The next big question I had to face was: how do I turn this dream into my reality?

For me, the answer was clear — I needed to go all in and build the life of a full-time creator. That’s the journey I’m on now, and it’s the goal that drives me every single day.

What started as a hobby, filming short clips of my travels, has grown into something much bigger than I ever imagined. I’ve produced more than 250 YouTube videos, each one crafted to tell a story, to capture a moment, or to transport someone to a place they’ve never been. Alongside that, I’ve created hundreds of Facebook videos, Instagram Reels, and TikToks — quick snapshots of life on the road that give people a taste of new cultures in just a few seconds.

Together, these videos have reached audiences far beyond what I thought possible. As of April 2025, my content has been watched more than 3 million times across all platforms. That number represents more than just views — it’s countless shared experiences, conversations sparked in the comments, and connections with people who dream of traveling or reliving their own journeys through my lens.

Every video is a step toward my bigger vision: to keep creating full-time, to partner with brands and destinations that align with my values, and to keep telling stories that inspire curiosity, cultural respect, and the joy of exploring the world.

This isn’t just about the numbers. It’s about the people behind those views, the communities I’ve built along the way, and the incredible journey that lies ahead as I continue chasing the dream of being a full-time travel creator.

My Mission

As I continue to grow my presence in the world of travel content, my mission is simple yet powerful: to create meaningful content that adds value and shifts perspectives. Every story I share, every video I post, is rooted in a desire to help people see the beauty of our world—and the shared humanity that connects us all.

The more I travel, the more I realize that kindness, hospitality, and human connection are universal. No matter where I go, these values shine through, reminding me that we have far more in common than we often believe.

Thank you for visiting my little corner of the internet. Wishing you a beautiful day and, as always—happy travels!

Curiosities

You’ve already read the formal part of my story, but here are some fun and quirky curiosities people often ask me — and my honest answers!

What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten while traveling?

Haggis in Scotland. Creamier than expected, and with swede and whiskey sauce, it made an unexpectedly good dish. I’ll crave again if I’m in Scotland again.

Have you ever gotten completely lost?

Yes — in the middle of Tunis in Tunisia. Back then, there was no Google Maps. It has tons of narrow streets… let’s just say it wasn’t my proudest navigation moment lol.

What’s one item you always carry in your backpack (besides camera gear)?

A tiny rope. It sounds random, but in some situations, you have to hang your laundry, or it comes in handy to tie up something along the way.

Do you prefer sunrise or sunset?

Sunset 100%. Partly because I’m usually still editing at 2 AM and not awake for sunrise, and nothing beats the golden hour.

Window seat or aisle seat?

Window — always. I like to film the view and secretly pretend I’m a pilot.

Have you ever missed a flight?

Once in Rome. The train from Termini train station to Fiumicino Airport was delayed by over an hour. Once, we arrived and rushed to the gate that was literally closing, my luggage handle broke down, and I went to the wrong Terminal and missed the flight. Worth it? 100%.

What’s the most embarrassing thing that happened while vlogging?

Holding my camera in vlogging mode and posing for a photo with football legend Patrice Evra at the same time. Security and Patrice were confused. I just smiled and moved along. I got the shot and that’s what matters lol.

Do people ever mistake you for a local when you travel?

All the time in Spain and in Italy, and even in my country Malta. Also once when I was invited on a TV program, the presenter told me I was Spanish. My Mediterranean face seems to fit right in… until I start speaking.

Mountains, beaches, or cities — which would you choose forever?

Beaches. I grew up surrounded by the sea in Malta, so it feels like home no matter where I am.

If you weren’t a travel vlogger, what would you be doing instead?

I’d probably be a chef again, like in my 20s. Cooking, writing down recipes, sharing them — it’s storytelling in its own way. Now I just swap the kitchen for a camera.

Who is Gordon Travels?

Hi, I’m Gordon, and I got my first taste for traveling when I was 11 years old. On my own, at 16 years of age and after 23+ something countries later, my wanderlust has only grown and the list of countries I want to visit longer. After living in Scotland and Spain and returning home, I started creating content in Malta, where I am currently based, but creating content worldwide is next. Follow my explorations as I wander, eat, chatter and make my way around the world.
